Cooperation with the Republic of Poland has a long tradition. This cooperation has been cultivated and developed since 1979. Considerable economic success, especially in the areas of health and the production of consumer goods and food, has been achieved bilaterally.
Accredited diplomats are frequently the catalyst that facilitates the development of successful international cooperation. They build the bridges and networks that are used by all participating countries.
The departure of Consul Malgorzata Wejtko, the Head of the department for trade and investments in the General Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Cologne, on June 28, 2012 was a very moving moment. We have worked with Consul Wejtko for many years. It is, however, not to be a last goodbye. Consul Wejtko will be using her new position in Poland to continue the excellent ties and cooperation that have benefited both sides over the years.
Consul Malgorzata Wejtko was made an honorary member by the international DMW steering committee because of her efforts in developing German-Polish relations!
In his laudation, our Chairman Günther Meinel emphasized that a network of cooperation has been developed that includes not only Poland and Germany. Polish companies also operating successfully in Iraq, Turkey and Egypt.
As an honorary member, Consul Malgorzata Wejtko was once again honored on July 5, 2012. Steffen Möller, a "superstar" in Poland, was also there to present his latest book which is already to be found on best seller lists!
A joint appearance was agreed to show that integration takes many different forms.
After Mr. Möller had read from his book he didn't get a chance to have a break because he had to sign book after book after book!
Chairman Günther Meinel also thanked the General Consul of the Republic of Poland, Ms. Jolanta Róa Kozowska, for her warm words of thanks at the event. The excellent cooperation with the General Consul also motivates support for Polish companies.
There is also a long tradition of cooperation with the Managing Director of NRW INVEST, Ms. Petra Wassner. New projects in health technology were agreed.
There was lots to discuss with General Consul Elzbieta Sobotka who is now running the General Consulate in Munich. She previously worked in Cologne and supported many joint cooperation projects with Poland.
There won't be any room for a breather, because the next tasks are waiting.
We extend our thanks to all of our excellent partners and reliable friends!
